God called his people out of the world to be a peculiar people (I Peter 2:9).  That simply means that he called his people out of the world to be different from the world.  We do not use the word peculiar much anymore.  A better word today would be radical.  A radical is something that stands out apart from something else.  So a Christian radical would be a person who is different from a person who embraces the things of this world.

People have tried to be Christian radicals by living by a set of external rules that would set them apart from the world.  This is legalism.  To be in legalism is to completely miss out on the life that God has called you to live.   A true Christian radical is a Christian that is a radical, not in legalism, but in the grace of God and the agape love of Jesus Christ.   I believe that there are some simple truths that a true Christian radical believes and lives by.

1.                 A true Christian radical believes and obeys the most important commandment, “Thou shall have no other God before me.”  To break this law is to commit the original sin.  This is the law that Satan broke when he rebelled against God.  And, this was the sin that Satan caused Adam and Eve to break.  When Satan did that, he nearly destroyed the human race.  But, in His agape love, God sent his son to a world that hated God (John 3:16-18).  Jesus, through his death and the shedding of His blood, became the only way man has back from the brink of destruction.   To have another god before Jehovah God is to commit idolatry.   Idolatry leads to adultery and to every other sin whether it is a sin connected to the world or a sin of religiosity that comes from legalism such as religious pride.

2.                 The true Christian radical embraces the two laws that God gave strictly to humans.  The first is, “Love the Lord with all your heart, all your mind and all your strength.”  The second is, “Love your neighbor as you love yourself Matthew 22:37-40; Mark 12: 28-31).  It may be impossible to obey the first main commandment without obeying these two commandments.  A legalistic religious person may try to obey the first of these, but it is probably impossible to come close to obeying the second.  To love your neighbor as yourself requires the Agape Love of Jesus Christ.  I believe that this is a spiritual gift.  I do not believe a person who is mired in religion and legalism can live in the Spirit.  If you are not under the power of the Holy Spirit, it is impossible to love people who you naturally are prone to dislike or even hate.

3.                 A true Christian radical lives by the simple faith of a child.  I do not believe that that statement needs to be expanded upon.

4.                 A true Christian radical believe that God has never changed.

5.                 A true Christian radical believes that the Word of God has not changed since we received it.  They also believe that it is the final word of a King and not to be debated and voted on.

6.                 A true Christian radical believes that Jesus Christ is the only doorway to Heaven or salvation.  To believe that there are other doorways to heaven other than Jesus Christ is dualism.  Dualism is a horrible heresy and is equal to denying Christ.

7.                 A true Christian radical believes that Political Correctness or any other man made philosophy has no part of God or of His Kingdom.  They believe the Word of God is the only thing necessary to know how to live their lives as a Christian.   They know that, since the Word of God is pure love, there is no need for anything else to teach them how to live with their neighbor.

8.                 A true Christian radical knows that salvation comes only by the unearned grace of God and not by anything that we can do.  Salvation is a free gift and cannot be earned. Also, concerning grace, We do not serve God because we fear, that if we don't serve Him, he will punish us. We serve God because we love Him and we are imerced in His grace.

9.                 A true Christian radical believes that God created all things including every soul that comes into the world…even those whose earthly bodies have been aborted.   They believe that God created all things, material and immaterial.  That includes both humans and angels of whom Satan was once chief angel.   I believe that He created what I call possibilities, which has given us every thing from the wheel to the smart phone.  But, the chief of these possibilities was free will.   From freewill came the possibility to sin.   Thus Satan conceived in his mind that he wanted to be God and then became the first sinner by breaking the first commandment.

10.             A true Christian radical believes that it is their sole purpose in life to serve God.  They believe that their main calling is to win souls.

11.             The most important coming event in the live of a true Christian radical is the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.  If they are not alive when that happens, they look forward to leaving this life to be with God.  And they do not anyone to hear those dreaded words of the Creator from the Great White Throne Judgement, “Depart from me.  I never knew you.”

12.             A true Christian radical believes that their body is the temple of God.  I believe that the body is the outer temple.  Although it is just the outer temple, it still to be kept holy in God’s righteousness.   I believe that the mind is the holy place.  And, I believe that the spirit and soul is the holy of holies where God sits on His throne.  When we have our sins washed by the blood of Christ, out names written in the Book of Life, and are living in the Holy Spirit, I believe that God is sitting on His throne.  When God is sitting on the throne of our soul, we can go out into the world and tell people that we are blessed.    We are a blessed radical people.

13.             A true Christian radical believes that they are called to engage in spiritual warfare.  We understand that we are in a war and the stakes of that war are the souls of our loved ones and neighbors.  We understand that the battleground is not the world.  It us the human mind.    A true radical believes that spiritual warfare is prayer for the lost and that we are to engage in warfare daily.

14.             A true Christian radical understands the enemy.  They know that Satan is real.  They know that Satan has been defeated and that the only weapon that he has is a lie.   They know that, since they understand that truth, Satan’s lies cannot harm them.  They know that they must confront the enemy everyday and demand that he let the prisoners that he holds illegally go.  They never run from or turn their backs to the enemy.   They know that Satan is king of nothing and will be the least prisoner in hell.

15.             Lastly, a true Christian radical believes that God’s people are a gift to the lost.  We believe that we are the only means that God has to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world.   We believe that having that knowledge, we must shoulder that reasonability knowing that it is the most important thing in our lives.   May God bless you and keep you until that day we go to meet Him.
