Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church,
.....The date on the cornerstone of the church building is 1923. Five miles south of White Sulphur Springs, Tuckahoe was once a stop on the C&O Railroad. Now, the church it is on the shores of Tuckahoe Lake.
........
.....This is how the Peniel building appeared before the construction of the dam and Tuckahoe Lake.
..................
.....This photo of how the building appears now is by Okey L. King (picture of the lake coming soon.
......
.....This was the first Sunday after the well brought forth its first water. This meant the end of the little house on the hillside and the opening inside tolits. That's me with the hose.
........
.....The morning congregation gathers outside for a photo shot (circmid 1980s). Five in this photo have graduated to Heaven, and the little blonde girl (Sara White) has grown up and is now married and living in South Dakota.

......
.....There is usually at least one Sunday a year in which we do not get to have church because the "horse and buggy days" railroad underpass is flooded.
........
.....The new marker is the stone of Lizzie and Hillman Cox. Lizzie was a fathful member of the Peniel church who had the spiritual gift of hospitality. The two older stones are Lizzy's mother and father. Her father, Joe Sparks, was a Primitive Baptist Preacher who raised a large family On Big Ridge and rode horse-back to his churches. The sister in the background is my friend Mary Adwell who decorating the grave of her husband Elmer. Elmer was a special friend of mine who died a few years ago of lung cancer. I had his funeral at teh Peniel Church. It was a saint's funeral with that promise of hope that Jesus has given us.

.....This photo was made in the Summer of 2009. We just installed a new roof, but, as you can see, we are in dire need of a paint job.
.....The Peniel Church is in snow country. On December 3, 2009, we had this fairly small snow. But just before Christmas we had a monster snow of about twenty inches.
.........
..............
.....The two photos above were made at Stephanie Mines Huffman's wedding. The first of Dennis and Ruth Patterson White and Bobby Vance. Dennis is one of our fathful deacons.

.....With thanks to God and Dennis White with help from his brother Carlos, the church has a new coat of paint.
.....
.....The ball that you see on top of the steeple is a bowling ball. The first ball was placed there many years ago by Woody Cox while a number of men held a very long ladder. With the help of a cherry picker, Carlos White removed the old bowling ball. He replaced it with a new ball that he had painted gold. Thank you Carlos. And, again, thank you Dennis for your great work.

.....It is a mess. We have only had two services this year. Mr. Sams came up from White Sulphur and pushed out s spot for some cars. He wouldn't
take any pay. It is still a sheet of ice and the snow banks are like concrete. Then, a few days ago, we had another four inches of light slick snow.
.....I think God knows more about global warming than those who have the center stage today. It has been one of the wrost winters for many parts of the world. At least God dosnen't mess in politics.

.....The light wasn't very good for this photo. We had a dedication service for our new sign. Our old sign was stolen last winter. We thanked God for Hs blessings over the years and for his guidence in the times to come. We also prayed for those who had stolen the sign. We prayed that God would touch them and that they would accept Christ as their savior.
.....We are the process of painting the church. We hve a new roof.
