It seems that a lot of people, both in the secular world and

In some religious circles, believe that they are members of a union.  They believe that they have a right to both bargain and make demands upon God.  They expect God to agree to what they see as their rights.

They believe that it is their right to live their lives in a manner that pleases them.  They believe should have free choice and still be part of the religious establishment or part of normal society.  So, what is the problem?  Why do we not understand why we cannot do as we please?   It is very simple.  We do not understand the authority of God.

In America, many Americans do not understand that the Church is not American.  America is supposed to be a democracy.  The Church is part of the Kingdom of God. A king rules the Kingdom of God.  The King is God and He has absolute authority.  Everything that is part of our lives is governed by his commandments found in His holy scriptures.

His laws and commandments found in the World of God (the Bible) instruct us in how to conduct our family life, our sexual life outside of marriage, the orientation of our sexuality, how we are to deal with our neighbors, and how we are to worship and live our lives as Christians.

Since we do not live in a democracy as Christians, we have no grounds upon which to make demands upon God.  We also have to grounds upon which to bargain with God.  We are to bow our knee and say to God, “Not our will but yours be done in our lives.”

If we understand God’s role in our life and in creation, then we will understand that, “It is no longer we that live, but Christ that lives in us.”

It is clear that we cannot impose the will of the world upon God.  We cannot make the Kingdom of God into the kingdom of the world.  We must understand that the children of disobedience have nothing in God.  Disobedience to God has one destination and end:  The Second Death that we read about in Revelations.  You can be disobedient to God and still be part of the religious establishment, but you will not be a part of the Kingdom of God.
